You asked: is there an equestian program?

Not only does Skidmore have an equestrian program, we have the most successful equestrian program in the nation–the New York Yankees of equestrian programs, if you will. The only Division I sport at Skidmore, the team has won 15 of the past 17 regional titles within Zone II, as well as five IHSA National Hunt Seat team titles, including the 1995, 1996, and 1999 championships. The team was the nation’s Reserve Champion Hunt Seat Team in 1994 and 2008. Most recently, Skidmore College won the 2010 National Championships.

Skidmore College owns over 30 exceptional school horses, many of which are donated by renowned professionals, alumni, and friends of Skidmore. A number of these horses have competed in the Medals or Grand Prix, allowing riders on the Skidmore Women’s Equestrian Team the opportunity to ride world-class horses every day.

Skidmore’s Equestrian Team competes in both the fall and spring semesters. Riders compete in eight regional IHSA shows, Regional Finals, Zone Finals, and the Intercollegiate Nationals. Additionally, riders compete in other Invitational IHSA Tournament of Champion shows. Skidmore College hosts at least two of the intercollegiate shows during the academic year.

For more information about the riding program, check out http://www.skidmoreathletics.com/index.aspx?tab=riding&path=riding.

Hope that helps and thanks for the question!

Chatty Cathys!

In this day in age there are so many ways for colleges to contact prospective students. Sure, there’s the phone, but now there’s Facebook, Twitter, Formspring, e-mail . . . I could go on, but I think you get the point. And even though we have these communication technologies, there are still a few folks who don’t get the opportunity to connect with Skidmore College. That’s why we’ve decided to hold our first-ever live chat session next week! You may have received the e-mail letting you know about the live chat, but just in case you didn’t, here are the deets:

WHAT: Live Chat with Skidmore College
WHEN:  Wednesday, February 29
7:30 – 9:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)
WHERE:  The privacy and comfort of your own home.
Click here on the 29th.
WHO: Current Students Aaron Wallace ’12 & Altagracia Montilla ’12, Admissions Counselors Associate Director Ken Dunbar and Assistant Director Teshika Hatch, Moderated by Online Community Manager Daniella Nordin

I am wondering why Skidmore do not send email to let candidate know whether they are accepted, or rejected? I am waiting for the ED2 result for so long. Because postal mail takes more than 1 week to reach my place. Can you please send us email?

Hi,

Skidmore does send acceptance notifications via e-mail (as well as the postal service) to international students. That e-mail (and the postal notifications) did go out last week, so if you haven’t heard I would call the Admissions office at 800-867-6007 to check the status of your application.

Hope that helps!

Our daughter has been accepted Early Decision and will be starting in the fall. Does she need to come to the one Accepted Candidates Days? She has already done a campus tour and met with several faculty. Thank you. Jordan

Hi Jordan, thanks for the question.

Accepted Candidate Days are a good idea if you’re daughter would like to meet her future classmates, check out some courses, and get a feel for Saratoga Springs. They aren’t mandatory and since she’s already done some of that, she might not want to visit again. It’s totally up to you.

Hope that helps!
