You asked: How often do students put on the waiting list get accepted?

Hi there,

Waitlisted students can be admitted from the waiting list but that doesn’t happen until early May. In the last few years we’ve taken as many as 70 and as few as 0. We have not gone to the waiting list the last two years.

Hope that helps!

You asked: What G.P.A do you need in order to transfer from another college?

GPA is a hard one to answer because it depends on the types of classes that you have taken and what is offered at your school. Generally students average at around B+/A- but some schools weigh GPAs, some schools don’t even give out grades, so it all depends on the context of your school.

Hope that helps!

You asked: I know the letters just went out today, but do you have an approximation of the regular decision acceptance rate?

Hi there,

We have not finalized these numbers yet, so I can’t say what the regular decision acceptance rate is, sorry. I can say that in the past, our overall acceptance rate (regular decision and early decision) is typically about 42%.

Hope that helps!

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: How many people were applied to Skidmore this year? How much more was that than last year?

Hi there,

We had 5,695 applications this year. That’s down slightly from last year but I believe by less than 1% so it has pretty much held steady.

Hope that helps!

You asked: what do you need to qualify for skidmore

Greetings!

At Skidmore, we look a the applicant holistically and want to know all about who you are — academically, socially, and extracurricularly. The most important part of your application is your high school transcript; we want to see what types of classes you have taken and how you have done in those classes. The students who do the best here usually have As and Bs but it is important to think about the depth and rigor of your courses. We look for students who have taken four years of the five major academic areas (English, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language and Math) and AP and IB courses certainly help. The more demanding your program, the more competitive your application will look.

The average ACT score is in the 28-30 range, but students can have scores lower than that and still be admitted. And the average SAT score ranges from 1750-2040.

Hope that helps!

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: catholic life

Hi there, great question!

Skidmore’s Catholic Campus ministry is a parish-based service linking college students to the local Catholic community either at St. Clement’s or St. Peter’s Parishes. Catholic campus Ministry also offers opportunities for personal spiritual growth, encourages participation in the celebration of the Eucharist and other sacraments, strives to raise consciousness on social issues, and promotes hands-on involvement in community service. The Office of Catholic Student Life also helps plan and takes part in multi-faith and social justice events sponsored by The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life.

The Newman Catholic Club is a student run club that plans social, religious and community minded events for its members as well as the entire Skidmore College community. Seasonal Retreats and/or Days of Reflection are offered throughout the liturgical year. Periodically a dinner and discussion on a timely issue is held on Sunday evenings prior to Mass.

Mass is celebrated during the academic year at 7:00 PM on Sunday evening in Wilson Chapel with Father Neil Draves-Arpaia. Persons interested in knowing more about Catholicism are welcome to join. Fellowship follows the Mass.

Fr. Neil is available on campus on Wednesday from 12:00 -3:00 PM in Case Center, Rm. 309 or by appointment. He may be contacted at St. Clement’s Parish, (518)587-3611 during off-campus hours. His email addresses are: cdravesa@skidmore.edu or padre1@scpny.com.

For more information call the Office of Catholic Student Life at (518) 580-8385.

Hope that helps!
