You asked: How many students were wait listed for Opportunity Program this year?

Hi there,

The Opportunity Program maintains their own list separate from Admissions so I would try calling Carrie Fonda at 518-580-5770 or e-mailing her at conda@skidmore.edu. She should be able to help you out.

Hope that helps,

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: do you you have any graduate studies?

Hi and hello there,

Skidmore does offer a graduate program. We call it MALS or Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. The MALS program is a low-residency graduate degree designed for working adults.

Students work one on one with Skidmore faculty and handcraft individualized concentrations in every area of the liberal arts. After taking a weeklong introductory seminar on campus, students typically complete the rest of their coursework at a distance through individualized tutorials with Skidmore professors, in-class courses at universities near their homes, supervised internships, and/or study abroad.

Studying part-time, students take an average of three years to complete the program’s 30 credits. For more information about the MALS program, check out: http://cms.skidmore.edu/mals/.

Hope that helps!

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: standardized testing ?

Hi there,

Skidmore College requires either the SAT or ACT with no preference for either one. I don’t know the fall 2012 numbers yet, but for the current freshmen the average SAT on admits (1600 point scale) was 1310 and the average ACT on admits was 30.

Hope that helps!

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: Have transfer acceptance letters been mailed yet?

Hi there,

Transfer students are accepted on a rolling basis. So letters go out on a rolling basis as well. I would recommend contacting our transfer student coordinator Matt Cohen at mcohen@skidmore.edu. He’ll be able to give you a definite answer.

Thanks,

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: What is the incoming freshman class international student percentage? Thanks!

Hi there,

Since the deadline to accept is May 1, we don’t have those numbers yet. I can tell you that we hope to have at least 7% of the class be international students this year. The Class of 2015 had about 6%, if that helps. Additionally, there are more than 120 international students on campus from more than 50 different countries, so it’s a good international mix.

Hope that helps!

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: approximately how many students were wait listed this year and approx. how many will get accepted from off the wait list?

Hi there,

Several hundred students were waitlisted this year. But after the requested postcards and follow up calls from waitlisted students, we have about 15-175 students on the “active waitlist.” The students on this list will be the first group considered if we go to the waitlist. Unfortunately we will not be able to tell how many (if any at all) we’ll take from the waitlist until admitted students enroll. We likely won’t know that until the first few days of May. In recent years it’s been as many as 120 and as few as zero.

Hope that helps!

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: do freshman get to choose/rank their housing option? or is it randomly assigned?

Good morning,

Freshman do not get to request or choose housing at Skidmore. All incoming students are assigned a room and roommate(s) based on legal sex, smoking/non-smoking preference, and their assigned First Year Experience Seminar, and when possible, other preferences designated on the Residential Life Housing Questionnaire (such as gender-neutral housing). We do this to create a supportive community of your peers when you first get to Skidmore. This way, you have a built-in network of friends in and out of the classroom.

Hope that helps!

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: Can all students use the gym to use the exercise equipment? Is there an additional charge for that?

Good morning,

Yes, all students can use the fitness equipment in the Sports Center free of charge. You’ll need your Skidmore ID card to get in, but once you’re in the Center, you can swim, use the treadmills and ellipticals, racquetball courts, and weight-lifting equipment.

Hope that helps!
