You asked: Does Skidmore offer study abroad programs for undergrads?

Hello,

Skidmore has an excellent study abroad program. In fact, 59% of the Class of 2011 studied abroad while at Skidmore and 58% of the Class of 2010 did as well. We were recently ranked 6th among the top 40 Baccalaureate Institutions for the number of students studying abroad for one semester and ranked 17th for the total number of students studying abroad.

Students can choose from 136 programs abroad in 47 countries, including eight Skidmore programs. Students can also choose from almost 200 campuses in the U.S. and its territories through our domestic off-campus opportunities, including options at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Historically Hispanic-Serving Colleges and Universities, schools in urban centers, a marine laboratory, and internships in the U.S. Capital.

If you want to talk to a student about their personal study abroad experience, contact @mollyatskidmore and @geoffskidmore. Molly went to Prague and Geoff went to Germany.

Hope that helps!

Ask us a question about Skidmore!

You asked: How much would it cost to participate in a study abroad program? Is financial aid offered?

Hello,

Typically study abroad does not significantly affect a student’s costs. Students who are on financial aid generally see a slight increase in their aid to cover additional expenses associated with overseas study. I would recommend the student contact financial aid for more details. You can find contact information here: http://cms.skidmore.edu/financialaid/.

Students participating in our study abroad program will be charged the Skidmore comprehensive fee. This fee is equal to tuition and room and board at the Scribner apartment rate. Students may use all financial aid, except work study for both. Adjustments will also be made to a student’s cost of attendance to assist with additional indirect costs such as airfare.* If students want to meet with an FAO representative, they can certainly do so.

Hope that helps and thanks for the question!
