How cold does it *really* get in Saratoga Springs? I'm from California…

Greetings,

It can get pretty cold in Saratoga Springs, that's the truth! The average temperature for winter usually stays steady at 35 degrees and has gone as low as 19 degrees (brrrr!). There is an average snowfall of about 20 inches per year. But that doesn't stop students from getting out and enjoying it. There are organized snowball fights on campus, science classes do experiments on frozen lakes and ponds, and art students get really creative with snow art!

Here's a link to our "Winter at Skidmore" Facebook photo album: http://on.fb.me/pljPQZ. That should give you an idea of campus life during those colder months!

You'll definitely need a pair of snow boots and a warm coat, but it doesn't get so cold that you can't manage. And watching the seasons change is one of the best parts about being in the Northeast. So, a little different from California, but in a good way!

Hope that helps,
