The following is a list of all entries from the conferences category.

HighEdWebDev 2007

So I went to my first HighEdWebDev conference in Rochester, NY this week. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I was very surprised at the content of the presentations. For the most part, they were well done and dealt with issues we have here on campus.
I will say, that the facilities they were hosted at , left something to be desired. For example, they did NOT have the wi-fi infrastructure to support 400+ attendees connecting to the internet, that was frustrating.
I saw several really great presentations and just wanted to post some URL’s of some of the work, software, etc I saw there.
Gettysburg.edu
They had a great demonstration of their new website and what functionality they had built-in , including hooks into Peoplesoft, Sungard BSR, LDAP, etc…It was probably the best integrated college website I personally have seen. They used dotCMS as their platform.
Carleton.edu
By far the funniest and most entertaining presentation that I saw. They are doing a case study on an internal social networking project, using open-source software called ELGG . They worked across campus to identify a need for an internal social network and are now in the beginning stages of building it to fit their needs.
Overall, I thought it was a good conference but still has some potential to get better. I heard next year it will be at Missouri State…
hrm……
