Some Thoughts to Ponder

I like to row to be by myself. I am a sculler. I try to help those in need with a lift for equipment. Boats and oars. and shoes for that matter.

On the water.... rowing is a meditative pursuit... single pointed focus....tranquility with an exercise component.

Please don't quote me but this is the truth.

it is quiet out there.

I once rowed in a double with a friend.... it was dark...it was cold.... it was snowing... it was a special treat that has not been seen since.

Words from Jeannette

As a 43 year old mother or 3, the best part of each day starts at 5:20 on the quiet waters of
Fish Creek. By 7:30 a.m. when I say good-bye to my coach and rowing mates, I have worked
harder than i ever imagined challenging this masters body. What makes it bearable is
knowing that each morning I will have the privilege of watching the sunrise, witness a blue
heron catching her breakfast, watch a bald eagle soar, sometimes see the distant bolt of
lightening break on the morning horizon.....and I have learned how to endure pain and gain
insight into how hard I can push my aging body. When I return home to wake the children
and move on with our routine, I am prepared for anything, as I am grateful for all that was
accomplished while they were sound asleep.

Friendship, competition, determination, tough work-outs, coaching, 8 women working as 1,
peacefulness, solitude in a single, nothing but the sound of the oar greeting the water,
spring sunrises, fall sunsets......there could be no better masters sport.
