This week is the last week of classes. Today is the last day of classes.
I expected this week to be fairly simple; classes end Tuesday- I celebrate that with oversleeping Tuesday night and then a liesure study schedule for the rest of the week. But actually I am so busy. I have a number of events to attend and they are eating up huge chunks of my study schedule. I am not complaining I just realize I have to figure out when the studying will come in. This really does not get easy until it really is over.

Wed. 11:30 – 1:30 Shift at admissions
5:30-8 Senior Dinner for student callers
Thur. 1:30- 3 End of Calling program ice cream social

Fri. 11:30- 4:30 Shift at admissions
4:30- 7 Dinner with my class at my professors house- yey for more food !
The Drastic Measures are one of six (or is it 8 now?) a- capella groups on campus; 1 of 2 co- ed; and the only a- capella group that performs solely for the benefit of a local organization, Saratoga Bridges, which serves individuals with disabilities and their families. At every performance, Drastic Measures collects donations from the audience; all the money goes straight to Saratoga Bridges. http://www.saratogabridges.org/
I attended their Spring Concert / End of the Year Show. Fantastic, of course. Here is a bit from that.
I am a little late on talking about Spring Fling so I apologize. But I just wanted to take the time to say that the events were a success. Soooooo, YEY !!
Friday afternoon I had to give a tour so I was unable to enjoy the festivities as much as I wish I could. After my tour I rushed over to the South Lawn green to at least catch the end of the Candy Land BBQ. Its never fun to catch the end of something good; everyone is leaving, you’re just getting there- you’re pumped, everyone is sun drunk. No fun. I still managed to find some friends munching away at burgers and enjoying the good tunes played by members of the DJ Club.
Directly after playing in the sun for a bit I made my way to the Scholarship Dinner. All senior recipients of scholarships given by Skidmore Alumni attend a really fancy dinner event. At the reception and dinner, donors are expected to meet scholarship recipients. In short, its good food, good talk (especially if you have really chatty donors at your table), and heaps of reminders that we should also be generous once we leave Skidmore (Already gave!!). The two donors at my table were a lovely couple who’s daughter graduated from Skidmore. The wife is also a Skidmore graduate and the husband is currently a professor in the Education Department. It was such a pleasure hearing stories about what is was like to go to school in the 70s- I LOVE LOVE “back in the day” stories ! They are the best ! Especially from a couple who stated they were and still are hippies. I don’t think we could have had anyone better at our table. I could not help but hug and thank them for their time before I made my way to the student center for the DRAG SHOOOWWWWWW !
Busy day, huh ?
The Drag Show is an annual event organized by the Skidmore Pride Alliance. Every year the club tries their best to get a professional drag company to host the drag show. This year they booked Pandora Boxx of Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Don’t know the show? Oooof Its good. Anyway she was knee slapping, “oh dear gosh” hilarious- The best host pride has booked in all four years that I have been here. And the performers themselves were great. I also have never seen such a great turn out for the event. Pride did a fantastic job. The show was such a perfect way for me to get pumped about the rest of my Friday night; THANKS S.P.A !
Every Spring the Sophomore Class Council and the Interclass Council organizes a week of free fun, events, and food. What more could you ask for? Nothing right? Well, maybe some sun and warm weather…aaaand no homework.

“Hey I just met you, and this is crazy. But hear’s my number. So call me maybe”.
I wanted to hate this song so bad and I did. But now at every Skidmore house party I go to it comes on at least once. Guess I have to love it now and maybe I kind of do. I mean, I totally sang it at the top of my lungs last night. NoBigDeal. But I’m still confused as to whether we actually like it or we like it because we hate it? I really don’y know.
Anyway, that is my random thought of the day.
P.S Can you tell this song is stuck in my head right now?
and at the same time Erin McKeown will be speaking at the Filene auditorium.
“Erin is well-known within the queer musical circuit for her diverse sound from elegant pop to balls-out rock, sweet electronics to witty swing, for her meaningful lyrics, and her talent as a multi-instrumentalist. She is also known for being a writer, teacher, and political lobbyist for issues concerning music and technology. Erin is currently a fellow at Harvard University’s Berkman Center.Well there is a Spoken Word/ Musical Performance event going on at the Tang teaching museum and at the same time” (as seen on fb invite).
Now, how to split myself in two before 8pm tonight.
So wait, you didn’t get the invite? No mail, no facebook? About Larry Wilmore’s visit to Skidmore? EEk!! I am very sorry. Well below is what the facebook invite looked like. Now you can feel like you were invited and we can pretend like you were much too busy to attend and not that you are probably no less than 3 hours away from campus and definitely would not have attended even if you were aware such a funny individual was visiting the campus.
Speakers Bureau proudly presents an evening with Larry Wilmore.Larry started his career as an actor and stand-up comic before transitioning to television writing and producing in the early 90s. Honestly, I am not too familiar with Wilmore’s material but I am glad I took some time out tonight to watch him do what he does best.
Now I must apologize for mentioning something so cool and having no hardcore material to show you. No pictures, no videos. There actually were none allowed. I can say this much, he was good, and I got enough LOLs in.
