Skidmore Blogs has many themes to choose from but if you’re looking to quickly customize the image often found at the top or header of a site, and you’d like for it to fill the top of the page… then we recommend the Twenty Ten theme. But first, how do I get to the Twenty Ten theme? Two options to either brings you to Themes:
— At the top of the browser in the admin toolbar, click on Customize
— from the Dashboard > Appearance > Customize
The Customize screen looks like this. It currently uses the 2015 theme.
We are changing it to Twenty Ten so first click on Change. Now, key in Twenty Ten in in the Search area.
Then on Preview, Save & Activate. The theme is now set to Twenty Ten.
Now go Header Image > Add New Image
Navigate to the image you’d like to use; here we would like to add the Reflections image. Select the Add Media in the editor, then under Insert Media, Upload Media you can Add File to navigate to file or you can drag and drop it. I prefer the Select Files option.
If asked to Crop the image, you can drag the area to where it will trim the image to correspond to the appropriate size. While not necessary, it’s often better to do so to avoid having a large banner image unless this is desired.
Finally, click on Save/Activate and you’re all set!
