Evan Halstead’s Electricity and Magnetism students were able to get a new perspective on a mathematical principle that can be difficult to grasp. Using the HTC Vive and an application called Calcflow they were able to interact with vectors in ways not possible outside of virtual reality. The experiential nature of VR, and this application in particular, allowed students to experience vector calculus in a new exciting way. Working in pairs proved beneficial as the observing student was present to discuss and bounce ideas off of as the other student was immersed in the exercise.
