3D Printing

3D Printing allows users to create objects from digital “blueprints” with relative ease

Welcome to the LEDS 3D Maker Lab!

Our aim is to provide helpful information for those who are starting out in 3D printing, as well as to chronicle our own humble projects while we strive to assist others with their creative endeavors. Here you will find information our team has gathered on using the 3D printers and highlights from projects we have facilitated in this space. Please Contact Us if you have any questions or comments. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The LEDS 3D Maker Lab is part of Skidmore College’s Learning Experience Design and Digital Scholarship Support (LEDS) Department, and is located on the lower level of the Lucy Scribner Library in Media Services, Studio B. In the summer of 2017, we acquired this space in order to set up a 3D printing lab and begin exploring the pedagogical applications of this technology. With the help of a dedicated student assistant, we spent the past year focusing efforts on learning the intricacies of 3D printing technology. LEDS is now prepared to assist faculty-student collaborations and other community members as they explore the use of 3D printing for prototyping and problem solving. Training and access to the 3D Lab is managed by the staff of LEDS.
