Rebecca L. Johnson

Dr. Johnson (affectionately known on campus as “Dr. J.”) has been a faculty member at Skidmore College since 2007.  She is currently an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department and an affiliate of the Neuroscience program.  She received a B.A. from Georgetown College where she studied Psychology, Communications, and Religion.  She then attended graduate school at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and worked with Keith Rayner, earning a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, a Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Science, and a Graduate Minor in Quantitative Methods.  Her primary research interests involve understanding the cognitive processes underlying reading in normal skilled readers and individuals with stroke-induced reading disorders.  She teaches core undergraduate courses on scientific research methodology and statistical analysis as well as upper level courses on psycholinguistics and the psychology of reading.
